Tim Arnold

A native of Nashville, TN, Tim has returned home after 20 years to be with his family. He is a firefighter with Williamson County but more I importantly, the father of two great teenagers and the husband to the best wife in the world. Tim has learned to be both creative and innovative. Impressed with the simplicity and beauty of the Shaker craft Tim traveled to Shakertown, KY to learn the craft of making Shaker boxes. He injects his own personality into each box through the use of domestic and exotic woods and extremely fine sanding. Š—“Nature made the wood, the Shakers made the design, I just put them togetherŠ— Do not hesitate to touch these works of art!The process begins with either a fallen log that is cut to the desired length, ripped and dried, or a piece of domestic or exotic wood purchased on the open market. As the pieces dry, Tim takes thin Woodstock purchased in cherry or maple and cuts out the fingers following a well used pattern. Then he gently steams the wood so it becomes pliable enough to bend into the bottom and top bands. Š—“The big ones look tough but it is the little ones that take the most time and effort to bend and form.Š— Once formed, he chooses his bottom and top woods, cuts them to the proper box size, carefully making sure the pieces fit tightly and attaches the four pieces using wood pegs and copper tacks. Then the hard work begins. Time sands each completed box to a fine, soft finish that is only appreciated through touch! S do not hesitate to pick up a box, touch it and fall under the Shaker spell, simply beautiful!
