James Mosier

I started my artistic journey by learning to weave a basket for my mom using a book that she had bought for my father. That instructional book altered the course of my life. I started weaving in 1979, and have been creating work for nearly 40 years. about 22 years ago I started to add metals to the reed and fiber baskets. Soon the metal replaced the natural fibers and the work began to take on a more contemporary feel. I now weave with aluminum to create my work, and feel so lucky that my life intersected with that little “how to weave a basket” book that my mom purchased.
