When the work of an artist leaves the studio it is not often that clients are given an option to alter the work beyond the typical framing, placement and lighting. And for the most part, that is how it should be. When a work of art is signed and dated, the process is usually finished – the artist creates, the patron enjoys. But that begs the question: Might some people appreciate a more tangible art encounter? I am exploring this concept and welcome clients to share in this experience with me. The assemblages I design, while complete as they are, allow for further contemplation and involvement. They offer the viewer an option to physically redefine certain forms within the piece. Thus, if they choose to do so, they can move toward their own sense of closure or can opt to periodically freshen the work. I enjoy the freedom of assembling these forms from a wide mix of media. I often involve found objects as points of departure or as focal points of intrigue and revelation. I attended art classes at Bowling Green State Univ. and Toledo Univ. in the early 1970s, but chose a career in civil service to raise my family. Now that our three are pursuing careers of their own they have encouraged me to reemerge into the art world I so relish and continue the quest. I enjoy the DFW area and the steadfast support of my wife, Susan.
