Tracy Reid

My Primary medium is watercolor-transparent watercolor.

Transparent watercolors present unique challenges, among them is predicting the effect of layering one pigment upon another and the fact that it is difficult to change a color once it’s laid down. These are some of the reasons watercolors are called “The Medium of The Masters.”

I work with a full range of values – from light to dark. I use tube pigments exclusively. My palette contains about 31 different colors.

I paint on only 100% rag paper. I prefer large formats, 30 x 40 and 40 x 60 inches, as they provide the impact I am seeking.

One of my favorite subjects is Koi fish. They present an ever changing combination of the abstract and the representational – to my delight and to those who buy my paintings.
