Ted Schaal

My bronze and stainless steel contemporary sculptures are cast using the ancient lost wax process. I use both materials in the same sculptures because of their abilities to accept and resist patina. Mirror polished stainless steel holds its’ pristine finish while the bronze can have and aged look. I like to cleverly conceal an internal structure tho give my work a sense improbable balance while maintaining an enduring stability. I draw my inspiration from the natural world and then put my contemporary spin into my compositions. Often I use mirror images and juxtapose a rough textures against pristine and polished surfaces.
