Ronald Linton & Leigh Linton

The material used in the primary structure of these works is shibuichi which is manipulated under extreme heat through reticulation, bending, breaking then fusing broken-away parts to a new form. Shapes are accomplished with the use of steel stakes and mandrels. 18k gold is used to detail the perimeter and other surface areas and patinas are from depletion guilding and using a torch to ‘paint’ the surface by slowly burning layers of raku-like tones. The attempted goal is to create works that have the simplicity of a torn paper collage with a natural and elemental appearance to the material used while the use of the more structured forms of gold and stone are to only enhance the final composition.
