Jerome Maschinot

I enjoy participating in Art Festivals around the country as a vehicle for seeing the country and showing and selling my photographs. It is very gratifying to be in contact with those who have enough interest to ask questions and perhaps even purchase one of my photographs. As I travel to the occasional show I always make time to get off the freeway and see America from the smaller highways which pass right thru the middle of thousands of small towns and large metropolisäó». The rhythm of driving encourages the quiet needed to engage in äóìseeingäó. These are special moments for me, looking at the world with a quiet mind.

I have no agenda when I am engaged in photographing. I have no gallery expectations or pressures. I have no style or subject matter that I am chained to. I have no dí©cor to match. I shoot what intrigues me visually. Generally, the äóìsubject matter of my images is color, texture, shape, composition. The same criteria applies whether I am shooting a building faí_ade, a sign close up, or autumn foliage. I am looking for interesting rhythms, shapes and textures with little regard (generally speaking) for the äóìobjectäó.

My work is produced solely by myself. From taking the shot to matting, framing, stretching canvas, buying materials, driving to shows, setting up and selling at shows. I am a one man band. My current camera is a Nikon D 800e which, combined with advanced software, gives the resolution I need to make very large prints. I use Epson printers and pigment ink to print on various archival quality papers and canvas. Several years ago I realized my work would benefit from being printed very large, so I took the plunge to realize this dream investing in a large format printer and camera. Now, Iäó»m really havinäó» some fun!
