Erin Curry & Steven Reeves

We produce collaborative work as MakeShift Photography. Based in the Dallas area, we are dedicated to working with vintage and modern photographic processes. MakeShift Photography endeavors to preserve historical methods and equipment in an effort to demonstrate how the creative process may benefit from both old and new techniques. Our current interests lie in the way the past infiltrates the present via the significance imposed on objects, places and personal history. This exploration finds us shooting both in the studio and on the street where we make use of a sizable camera collection that spans more than 100 years of photographic technology. We maintain creative and technical control of our work from beginning to end. We develop our own film, create our own darkroom and archival digital prints, and assemble the final presentation of our work with our own hands.
