Cynthia Patterson

I am inspired by the forms in modern Asian ceramics and by the decoration of ancient Greek and Estruscan pottery. I try to combine the two into functional and decorative ware of stoneware or porcelain, usually created on the wheel. Each piece is adorned from nature with stylized plants, animals, birds or fish using a combination of glazes, underglazes, stains, terra sigillata, carving and sgrafitto, and each reflects my love of nature.
