Using only the finest professional grades of paint, canvas , or paper, I apply layers of gesso to provide a good working surface for the paint. A lot of time is spent developing the composition, and once I am satisfied with the design I can begin painting, often first toning the white canvas with an ochre colored wash. This is followed by thicker layers of paint, adding glazes, scratching through the paint and scrapping off. I continue adding and subtracting until I am happy with the painting. My paintings are non-representational and are the result of experience and experimentation.
