Amy Bush

Through the lens, I see a world full of raw emotion and my imagination opens to all possibilities. The goal behind each photograph is to capture moments in a way that best comprises the scene, person, or feeling. The subjects I photograph can vary widely, from inanimate objects that speak to me in unexplained ways, to nature’s displays of her scenic majesty, to up-close views through a macro lens catching the smallest of details, to a disenchanted child wanting to play in a field instead of take family portraits. I am an artist down to the tips of my toes, and photography is only one of many mediums I use to communicate my journey and experiences. My love for photography started when I was a teenager and found a box full of old cameras in the shed behind our house. Capturing black and white images and rendering them in different ways in my high school darkroom was the beginning of a new style of self-expression. My passion for photography was set aside when I decided to focus on starting a family, but it was never forgotten. I rediscovered my love for the art with the emergence of digital photography. With my new Canon DSLR, I spent a solid month in my backyard photographing every bug that would let me crawl up close and shove the lens into its business. From bugs to flowers to sunsets, landscapes and beaches, and more recently, artistic portraiture, my passion continues to grow every day. With wide interests and great diversity, I love finding new ways to keep my work interesting and imaginative. Some moments captured are driven by a theme, while others are a collage of parallel motifs over several adventures with a story to be told. These pieces individually are powerful, and as series, make an emotional statement. Photography is another means of sharing who I was, am, and could be. Come, share my journey and enjoy the perception of life and self-expression in a photographic representation of creativity.
