Allan Pierce

I design and create fine furniture, home goods, and kitchen accessories using unique hardwoods. I work principally in sustainably harvested velvet mesquite from the Sonoran Desert. I chose this species of wood as my medium due to its beautiful grain, variety of tones and striking contrast between heartwood and sapwood. I hand select my lumber based on its unique characteristics and figured grain. I also strive to showcase the innate beauty of each piece of wood I work with. In this grain, I often maintain the natural or “live” edge of the wood. Cracks or “imperfections” are accentuated with crushed turquoise and resin. I have travelled the world to source the finest gemstones to inlay into my wood pieces. I select gem quality Peruvian turquoise from the Andes and Kingman turquoise from Arizona. The wood itself has a strong influence on the design of each piece. As woodworking is a reductive art, I attempt to leave each piece as intact as possible, which makes every item truly one of a kind. In addition to being truly beautiful works of art, I make all my wood products to be a functional part of daily life. I hold myself to a high standard of craftsmanship so that everything I sell is heirloom quality and made to last many lifetimes.
