My pet chickens never fail to make me smile and inspired the creation of a new chicken-version of Francois and Claude Lalanne’s sheep ottoman in my final furniture design studio at K-State. Henny and Penny, the original chicken footstools, emerged thorough many art processes: bronze-cast feet and beaks, egg-shaped turned wooden cores, welded structures, chicken-shaped upholstery, hand-felted feathers, and hand-stitched finishing. They have been bringing about smiles ever since!
