Kate Harrold

I photograph with the intention of creating my own reality, rather than documenting it. I find inspiration in people and places and create stories around them. I use elements of the reality that surrounds me as building blocks to create entirely new, fantastical environments. My surreal yet photographic images draw hope from empty spaces in dilapidated neighborhoods. They ask the viewer to put themselves in the shoes of those pictured and look at the world through their eyes. They ask him or her to look through the window and question what lays beyond. Imagination and storytelling are the cornerstones of my work.
