Jane Pellicciotto

With a background in graphic design, I approach jewelry as small sculpture, focusing on simple lines and forms, surface texture, contrast and asymmetry. I refrain from highly refined work because I prefer to reveal some of the making process through mark making, irregularity and even wit. In this way, the intimate form of jewelry can be even more accessible.

I find inspiration in naturally occurring forms and their synchronicity in the built environment. But more so, I’m drawn to ancient structures that have morphed over time because they embody both the control man attempts to exert as well as the unpredictable forces of time and use.

By combining contrasting forms and/or color, I’m able to explore and attempt to resolve life’s infuriating contradictions in a single object, but most importantly, to embrace the unpredictability of it all.
