FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 7, 2007) – MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival and Sundance Square Parade of Lights, both produced by Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc. (DFWII), were honored with a combined 16 first-place marketing awards during the recent annual Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) Conference in Corpus Christi.
MAIN ST. received 15 first-place awards for the sponsor solicitation video, TV promotion, Web site, miscellaneous multi-media, miscellaneous printed material (single page), single newspaper display ad, magazine display ad, ad series, event photograph, sponsorship solicitation package, educational program, best pin or button, best hat, best miscellaneous clothing and best other merchandise. Parade of Lights received a first place award for best promotional poster. The events also earned eight second place and three third place awards.
“We are absolutely thrilled to take home so many top awards from this prestigious competition,” said Carlos De La Torre, chairman of the Festivals and Events Committee for DFWII. “The competition among events throughout Texas is fierce, and we compete directly against top programs such as Fiesta San Antonio and the Alamo Bowl.
Credit certainly goes to an outstanding Festival and Events committee, a top-notch staff, a dedicated Event Management Team and the hundreds of volunteers that give of their time to producing our award winning event.”
TFEA awards events for excellence in promotional campaigns. The awards are judged by a panel of festival and event professionals assembled by International Festivals and Events Association.

About Sundance Square Parade of Lights
The 2007 Sundance Square Parade of Lights presented by AT&T and CHASE kicks off at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 23rd, and will be the 25th “Silver Anniversary Edition” of the event. With more than 100 illuminated floats from area companies, over 500,000 lights will illuminate downtown Fort Worth and will culminate with the lighting of the Fort Worth Holiday Tree in Sundance Square. This year’s theme is, “Silver Bells for a Silver Anniversary” and Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will make their first Fort Worth appearance of the year on the DFWI float at the end of the parade.
